Born on a farm between Newcastle and Charlestown in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, I have always loved the outdoors and have taken inspiration from the many wonderful experiences my lifes journey has taken me on.
Following my Husband - Dave - to Mauritius, Kenya and China, for his work, gave me the opportunity to explore the fantastic cultures that we had the privaledge of being extended visitors in.
Mauritius was about the Sea and Hindu / Creole cultures. Kenya was about beautiful East Africa - the people; the wildlife; the land.
China was about deep and historic Chinese traditions and cultures, that were opening up to the Western World.
South Africa is Home.
During our short time in China, I fell in love with the shapes and designs of their beautifully crafted furniture and on returning to South Africa in 2003, I opened a specialised Chinese furniture store - Red Moon Interiors.
My heart was more into me using my hands to do something for myself and after painting, making jewelery and doing many crafts, I found my passion in pottery and have not looked back since.
It is now my wish to make art that represents the stories of my (past and present) journey and to introduce and give others (Adults & Children) the ability to explore their imagination, creativity and to feel a sense of achievement by making something they can feel proud of.
